INCREASING LIFE

Every living thing must continually seek for the enlargement of its life, because life, in the mere act of living, must increase itself.

A seed when dropped into the ground, springs into action, and in the act of living produces a hundred more seeds. Life, by the way we live it, multiplies itself. It is forever becoming more; it must do so, if it wishes to continue to exist.

Our lives, moments, time and intelligence are under this same necessity for continuous increase. Every thought we think makes it necessary for us to think another thought because our consciousness must continually expand. Every fact we learn leads us to the learning of another fact because our knowledge must continually increase. Every talent we cultivate brings to the mind the desire to cultivate another talent because we are subjected to the urge of life always seeking expression driving us on to know more, to do more, and to become more than what we currently are. And like what every seed will want, our continual increase is compulsory if at all we wish to be relevant in our subject.
