PERFECTLY IMPERFECT

Why would you expect me never to make a mistake? Why would you expect me to be so damn perfect? What’s up with perfection anyway? Who really is perfect? Who really is impeccable? Show me one person: So eloquent no stammer, they have never lost, always winning. They have no imperfection, they have never asked for direction. They are number one selection. They are never producing feaces. They are always excelling. They are immune to failing. They have never fallen to temptation. Their hearts are always healthy. They have never called on the Saviour. They have never stolen money. Their sky is always sunny (MI Abaga). They have never hurt a person. Their mouth is never cursing. They have never hurt, never thirsting. Their hands are always nursing. Never get frustrated. They have never made a mistake. Their lips are never pouting. They have never had a trouble. They have never blinked; never lost vision. They have never owed debtors. They have never shouted. 

Just don’t expect those from me. In fact I can never give you any of those. But one thing I can give you is this: I’ve got a faulty conscience, so much nonsense, I make mistakes, I’m harboring some guilt, gotten my heart broken. There is hurt from every word I’ve spoken. There‘s people I’ve cheated. I’ve had truth receded. Sometimes I’m very stubborn, allowed my pride to govern. There is so much dirt I’ve covered. It’s dark inside my cupboard. That’s the real me, I’m not perfect, I don’t even want to be. You know what, who really is? But in all of these of my behaviour, I see I am only human, so give me a break. But all the same, I don’t take being human for granted. I make sure I put in my best to every contest I’m tested in. That’s the real me; I’m PERFECTLY IMPERFECT BUT I WILL NEVER TAKE IT FOR GRANTED.

FORGIVE YOURSELF

With every mistake you will make, with every error you will commit, you must learn how important it is to forgive yourself and many of the people around you. Often times when we make mistakes, we mostly believe that our failures were our fault, the fault of others around us and even the littlest inert objects. But one thing you must understand is that you are not impeccable and that there is every chance you might fail for every chance at success. There is every chance we might fall flat to our face. The only thing that typically keeps us going is our intention of getting the best. So if by chance we fail, our intention has never failed, it’s just the method and approach that failed. But in truth, forgiving yourself may look ridiculous but it is actually necessary if at all you will trust yourself again to succeed in that venture. The truth is unless you let go, unless you forgive yourself, unless you forgive the situation, unless you realize that your method failed you never your goal, you will never move forward. For that reason, it is important that you forgive yourself, learn from your mistakes, move on and succeed like never before. In truth, you actually deserve to succeed.

SUCCESSFUL FAILURE

If by any chance you fail, make sure you use your failure to your benefit. There is a thing called “Successful Failure”. We successfully fail when our failure stirs us to keep trying. We successfully fail when our letdowns excite us to keep on aiming. We successfully fail when the setbacks that look as though they will finish us off spur us to come out on top. We successfully fail when we see our mistakes and willing and ready to change. Often times, the greatest mistake we make is not correcting the first mistake. We successfully fail when our miscarriages do not hold us down from taken in again. We successfully fail when our failure does not limit us to our present position but it provides us the leverage for future success. Anytime you have learned from your failure, anytime you have stood up from your fall, anytime you have risen up from your death, I’m happy to announce to you that you have taken a momentous step towards your success. In short, you just successfully failed.

BE THERE

Wherever you are, whatever you do; be there, be all in, immerse yourself fully in it, consume the total plot, draw from it, capture the whole moment. Convey your message. Let your voice be heard. Be the director, produce it, let your being reach, stake your highest odds in it. Let your story prevail, let your song be so melodious, let your poem recite with the best rhymes, let your touch leave impacts. Wherever you go, go with all your heart. Stamp it with your soul, be the best in it. It will lead you forwards, towards your own legacy. Be There!

Every new beginning comes from some other beginning’s end. It is impossible for an end to exist without a beginning likewise it is impossible for a beginning to exist without an end. At the beginning of this Service year, the journey looked endless, it looked rough, bumpy, and so uneven but the certainty of its end was a surety. We’ve been through it all, the extremes (the hotness, the coldness, and the windstorms). Now once upon a 15th of October, 2015, the journey that looked endless yesterday has finally ended. It took a beginning to have this end. It took a start to get to this finish line. Unsurprisingly, a new beginning simultaneously starts as this journey ends. One phase has ended, another just begun. I am however wishing you goodies in your new journey. I’m wishing you money (lots of it), I’m wishing you health, I pray that you will be tall. I’m wishing you thrills and bliss’s. In short, I wish you whatever you pray for yourself because that is probably the best I can offer you. I’ll see myself at the top.

'GOOD MORNING'

A phrase we all use all the time. I say it to my neighbors, my friends, my brothers, my employees. I guess you could say it’s some kind of blessing to one another, to start the day, a greeting to break a coffee. Maybe just a habit to some or an act of politeness but to me it has a whole different meaning. It is a greeting of a good new beginning, good times, and good life. It is a start of a new day, a new season, and a new moment. The start of a new story: of getting on with our lives. A new day to live your life, a new day to leave an impact, a new day to find your way, a new day to smile, to rise, to shine, to love, a new day to be thankful, to be grateful, to celebrate life, a perfect day to correct yesterday’s mistakes. It’s a new morning to stop mourning for there is hope today of changing your story. I am therefore wishing you a good new beginning. Good Morning Sun shines.

DESPITE THE ODDS

Despite the odds – the road looks rough and bumpy, an unpaired path with potholes and pits, bushes and shrubs scraping the sides of our vehicle, an uncomfortable ride with a lot of jolting and bumping in the seat. But fortunately and unfortunately, it may be the only way to the top. What can we do? We could change our plans, turn the car around and go back home or drive back and forget about our journey to the top or we can curse and swear at the discomfort and keep going. That journey is our life. The vehicle is us. The driver is our decision. If the driver is determined, he just won’t give up. There is a hidden good behind the odds, a secret benefit at the back of the chance. We could end up winning despite the odds; we could end up succeeding despite the story all up-hill. This journey is our life; however, putting a lackluster performance is a recipe for failure. It is better not to start than to put in a lackluster effort. Despite the odds, we will give our best. Despite the odds, we will never relent. Despite the odds, we will stake our highest. Despite the odds, we will never stop until we come out tops.
